This incredible wall was installed in March 2010. It is 22 feet high and 100 feet wide in 2 sections. It was planted with over 20,000 2 inch plug plants with over 20 varieties. The design of the wall was created from an aerial photograph of the area west of Calgary. Plant types, leaf shapes, sizes and textures were chosen to denote areas of changing topography. It is a "Greenwalls" system created by Landscape Architect, McRae Anderson of McCaren Designs.

The wall has a computerized drip irrigation system and a fertilizer injector. Constant monitoring of this system is part of the on going maintenance of this project.

The "Green walls" system is hydroponic. This means that the plants were installed with very little soil and the plants were installed into a growing medium which is a light-weight foam like material that is especially designed to retain proper water and air ratio to sustain plant health.

Professional maintenance is the key to the success of your Living wall. A lift system is required for a Living wall of this magnitude.
